Excellent served in a bowl with ice cream or alone. It's very rich so serving sizes don't have to be too big.
The Cake
1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup sugar
2 tbsp cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp butter
The Pudding
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1-3/4 cup boiling water
2 tbsp melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350
- Sift dry ingredients for the cake together
- Add milk, vanilla and butter and mix well
- Place cake mixture in a round 8" deep casserole dish or pudding bowl (6" deep ideal) that is greased (not floured)
- Mix all sauce ingredients
- Pour over top of cake mixture; yes do this really!
- Bake at 350 degrees for one hour
- Let the cake sit for about 30 minutes after baking to allow the sauce to thicken up a bit (this is under the cake; really)
- Enjoy!
